NEW DELHI: Leading automakers Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), Hyundai Motor India reported record annual sales for the fiscal ended March 31, driven by new models and robust demand for existing products. Tata Motors, Renault and Nissan India also posted sales growth in FY2016-17. For the 2016-17 fiscal, MSI posted a 9.8 per cent jump in total sales at 15,68,603 units, against 14,29,248 vehicles in 2015-16.

NOIDA: Japanese auto major Nissan today launched an all new version of its SUV Terrano priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 13.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). NEW DELHI: French auto major Renault today reported 26.8 per cent increase in sales at 11,198 units in India in February compared to the year-ago month. The company's arm, Renault India, had sold 8,834 units in the same month last year. Over the last few years, Renault has focused on establishing a strong base in India and has become one of the youngest and fastest growing automotive brands in the country, the company said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: Jaguar Land Rover India today launched its locally manufactured all-new Jaguar XF sedan at a starting price of Rs 47.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The all-new Jaguar XF will be available in two options -- a 2-litre Ingenium diesel engine with a power output of 132 kW and a 2-litre petrol engine with a power output of 177 kW, the company said in a statement.

 
         Ambassador brand now gets a new owner in Peugeot    
 
 
NEW DELHI: The iconic brand Ambassador, which used to be a symbol of the high and mighty in power corridors, has changed hands, with Hindustan Motors selling it to European auto major Peugeot for Rs 80 crore. The C K Birla group firm has inked an agreement with Peugeot SA to this effect. As things stand, the manufacturing of Ambassador car has been discontinued.

 
         Car sales up 11%; passenger vehicles up 14% in Jan    
 
 
NEW DELHI: Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 14.4 per cent to 2,65,320 units in January from 2,31,917 units in the same month last year. Domestic car sales were up 10.83 per cent at 1,86,523 units as against 1,68,303 units in January last year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

NEW DELHI: Hyundai Motor India is recalling 7,657 units of its entry level small car Eon to fix faulty clutch and battery cables. The recall will cover Eon units produced in the month of January 2015. The company has initiated a service campaign to recall and inspect the clutch cable fouling with battery cable of Eon cars produced in the month of January 2015, at no cost to customer, Hyundai Motor India said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India today announced crossing the milestone of 15 lakh vehicles in its cumulative exports. "These vehicles have been exported to over 100 countries including Europe, Latin America and Africa. Early this year, the company's premium hatchback Baleno, manufactured exclusively in India, became the first car to be exported from India to Japan," the company said in a statement.

 
         Tax rates limiting best-selling cars rollout in India: Honda    
 
 
NEW DELHI: Calling for rationalisation of differential tax structures in the Indian automobile industry, Japanese auto major Honda said the "unique" system has led to skewed demand for small cars and prevented introduction of best-selling global models in the country. The company's Indian arm -- Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL)-- expressed concern over lack of clarity on GST rate and the time for its implementation, saying such uncertainties make it difficult to plan production in advance.
