KALPETTA: A 17-year-old boy drowned in the Panamaram River at Mathoth Poyil near Panamaram in the district. The dead has been identified as Vaishnav, son of Sasidharan, at Edathumkunnu in the district. Vaishnav was a Plus Two student of the Panamaram Government Higher Secondary School.

 
         Youth falls off train    
 
KASARAGOD: A youth sustained grievous injuries after he fell off a train near the Shiriya railway bridge, near Uppala. The youth, Kirthan Shetty, 19, son of Raghuram, a resident of Padumane Gangolli in Karnataka’s Udupi town, fell off the Chennai-Mangaluru Superfast Express train around 8 am, P V Ashokan, Kumbla police sub-inspector said.

 
         Bus workers call off strike    
 
KOZHIKODE: The indefinite strike called by a section of private bus employees on the Beypore route was called off after their demand for a wage hike was granted by bus owners at a meeitng convened by the Regional Joint Labour Commissioner.
