KANNUR: Six RSS workers were sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of murder of CPM worker T Ashraf at Panur in 2002. The Additional District Sessions Court at Thalassery sentenced RSS workers T.K. Subin alias Jithu (37), P. Aneesh (39), E.P. Rajeevan alias Poocha Rajeevan (41), P.P. Purushothaman (37), N.K. Rajesh alias Reju (44) and K. Ratheeshan (39).

         Pigeon flyers’ convention    
KOZHIKODE: Deputy Commissioner of Police Merin Joseph will open the 32nd annual convention of Calicut Pigeon Flyers’ Association to be held at Nalanda Auditorium in Kozhikode at 6 p.m. on November 26. Actors Amal Shah and Govind.V. Pai, noted for their roles in the movie Parava which is based on pigeon flying, will give away the prizes to the winners of various competitions on the occasion.

IDUKKI: The police have registered a criminal case and started investigation against two nuns’ in-charge of a school hostel at Jellippara in Attappady for beating up a 15-year-old tribal student for arriving late.

ALAPPUZHA: A special team led by District Police Chief S Surendran arrested two persons in connection with a twin murder case at Takazhi. The arrested have been identified as Mobin Mathew, alias Manu, 25, Kanhickal house, Pacha, near Edathua, and his cousin, Jeffin Joseph, 24.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 30 persons were injured in a collision between two KSRTC buses near Nedumangad on Monday. The accident occurred at Kollamkavu when the driver of the bus headed for Puthenpalam from Nedumangad lost control of the vehicle and collided with another bus.

KOZHIKODE: The Kunnamangalam police have recovered 450 sovereigns of gold ornaments from Kollaparambil Mohammed, a native of Kannur, who was arrested two months ago for his alleged involvement in around 200 theft cases in Kozhikode and Malappuram.
