KASARAGOD: A 14-year-old boy drowned in a swollen water body at Ayitti, near Thrikkarippur. The police said T P Muhammed Susharaff, a Class 9 student of Government Higher Secondary School, Pilicode, drowned in the water body formed due to illegal sand-mining when he entered the waters along with his friends while on a visit to the residence of a relative.

         Ayyappa temple opens for monthly rituals    
PATHANAMTHITTA: The Sabarimala Ayyappa temple was opened for the five-day monthly rituals in the Malayalam month of Karkidakom that begins on Tuesday.

         Youth held for theft of bike    
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Pettah police on Monday arrested a youth for alleged theft of a motorcycle. The police officers identified the accused person as Achu Shan, 21, who belonged to Chakka in the capital city.

KOCHI: The Aluva East police have taken a person into custody on the charge of swindling money from a finance company. The person has been identified as Mithun Shashi from Karukutty.

KOCHI: The Njarakkal police arrested a 34-year-old on the charge of ganja peddling from a location near a private school in Vypeen. The arrested was identified as Shaheer, a resident of South Malippuram.

         Taxi drivers clash at Eenchakkal    
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Differences over the functioning of a taxi drivers’ association spilled out into the street at Eenchakkal. Members of the Trivandrum Airport Taxi Drivers Welfare Association, the dominant registered union of taxi drivers at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, clashed with each other near the association office at Eenchakkal, prompting the police to intervene to bring the situation under control. Vehicular flow along the NH-66 bypass was disrupted for a short while
